Geographical Location:

The Whatshan Lake Retreat is at the Southern end of the Whatshan Lake, approximately 118.5W 49.5N. To see an aerial view of the Whatshan Lake Retreat, please click. The closest communities are Fauqier and Edgewood.

The Kelowna or Castlegar airports offer daily service to this area. There is a 3000-foot asphalt runway at Nakusp that is ideal for small planes and a 2800-foot grass and gravel landing strip within 1 kilometer of the Retreat.

Access from Kelowna:

Travel 44 kilometers North on Highway 97 to Vernon. At Vernon, travel 129 kilometers East on Highway 6 through Lumby. Continue on Highway 6 past Edgewood junction for 4.5 kilometers. Just after crossing the bridge, turn left on Whatshan Lake Road (gravel). Continue on the road for 2.8 kilometers until you see the Whatshan Lake Retreat sign on your left. A steel gate on the right hand side marks the entrance to the Retreat.

Access from Castlegar:

Travel 19 kilometers North on Highway 3A to the South Slocan Junction. Turn left onto Highway 6 and travel 108 kilometers North to Nakusp.Continue on Highway 6 and travel 61 kilometers South to Fauquier. Continued next section...

Access from Fauquier:

Cross the Upper Arrow Lake on the Needles ferry. Travel West on Highway 6 for 3 kilometers. Turn right onto "Whatshan Lake Road" (gravel). At 2.9 kilometers you will see the Whatshan Lake Retreat sign on your left. A steel gate on the right hand side marks the entrance to the Retreat.
